The problem

Türkiye imports a large share of its vegetable oil. According to our company's field document from the 2013–2014 period, sunflower then made up roughly three quarters of domestic vegetable-oil production, and low per-hectare returns pushed farmers toward other crops. Drought, irregular rainfall and rising energy and labour costs worsen this every season.

Kolacı's approach

We looked for a way to release the plant's own yield potential without genetic or chemical intervention.

  1. 1

We defined the problem on farmers' fields in Çukurova

  2. 2

developed the technology at Çukurova University Technopark

  3. 3

validated it on the same fields with control groups

Outcome

XSense Seed Stimulation

field validation completed (2013–2014)

Current stage

application protocol available.
