Who we are
Kolacı is an Adana-based R&D and technology company that brings real needs together with the knowledge and technology of different disciplines. Our founding team's application history, which began with outdoor communication, image processing and integrated urban systems, continues with agricultural technologies and the AI-supported education work we are developing today.
At the centre of our work are understanding the problem correctly, bringing the right technologies together and evaluating the solution under real conditions of use. We treat software, hardware and domain expertise as one; through technology development, adaptation and transfer, we aim to turn research into usable solutions. We do not count an unvalidated result as a product, and in every field we work with that field's experts and institutions.
We carry this experience forward with our ongoing research in education and health.

One working discipline, developed across different fields.
XLight — outdoor communication and measurement
Our founding team's work began in Ankara in 1999 with four engineers, under the XLight brand. From 2002 onwards the measurability of outdoor advertising was studied on modular backlit panels in Kavaklıdere, with an image-processing application that counted and recognised the vehicles passing in front of the panel; in 2004 and 2006 message panels aimed at an international audience were installed on the same walls. This approach, which treated design, lighting and measurement on one surface, became the basis of the later image-processing work.
Adana — image processing and an integrated urban system
In 2006 a system that merged advertising panels and the City Security Management System on one infrastructure was built in Adana: ten smart units, five IP cameras per unit; plate, speed, make-model and colour recognition; vehicle and pedestrian counting. Software, hardware, street furniture and the Command and Control Centre were handled in one project; the contract was signed on 22 December 2006 and final acceptance took place on 18 December 2007. Production, installation and operation were undertaken by Y-Vizyon Ltd. Şti., a company of the same founding team.
XSense — technology for an agricultural need
Developed against the problem of drought, imported inputs and falling yields in Çukurova, without genetic or chemical intervention in the seed, XSense Seed Stimulation was developed at Çukurova University Technopark and sown with control groups on farmers’ fields in 2013–2014. The 2014 season observations, made together with academics of the Faculty of Agriculture, are recorded in the Adana Seyhan Chamber of Agriculture report dated 14 November 2014; DNA analyses dated 1 November 2013 found no genetic difference in the samples examined. Sowing areas (756 hectares, 96 application areas) are based on the company's field records.
MedExem and new work — education and health
Today we apply the same approach in education: MedExem is an AI-supported education and study application that aims to save time and support reasoning by bringing the student's own notes, course materials and scattered sources together in one context; it is in development and validation. Our research in health, chemistry and dietary supplements continues; we are not sharing a named output at this stage.
R&D experience developed in technoparks
Kolacı companies operated first at the Technopark Incubation Centre on Hacettepe University's Beytepe Campus, and later at METU Technopark and Çukurova Technopark (2013–2015), where they carried out and completed R&D work.
We are not the company of a single product or sector: our work is to find problems that cause a measurable loss in the real world, develop technologies for them, validate what we build under controlled field conditions and turn the validated technology into an applicable product.
Mission
To develop field-validated, applicable technologies for problems that cause measurable loss in the real world.
Vision
To be an R&D organisation that can take a problem from research to field application whatever its field, and that measures and shares its results together with institutions.
Values
Measurability
We do not count an unmeasured result as a product.
Source transparency
For every figure we share, we state where and under what conditions it was measured.
Respect for domain expertise
In every field we work with that field's experts, institutions and practitioners.
Stating limits
We write what a technology does not do as clearly as what it does.
2002Ankara
Making outdoor advertising measurable
In outdoor advertising, a basic question was unanswered: how many people a billboard reached could not be measured. Work on this need began on the modular backlit panel area of about 100 m², made up of two sections 2 m high, on the walls of the Kavaklıdere Tennis Club in Ankara. After a short preliminary trial with sensors, the team moved to an image-processing-based system in 2002.
The system counted vehicles passing the panel, recognised their make and model and produced estimates of the audience profile. The company renting the advertising space could watch the traffic data live over the internet. In this way, outdoor advertising became a measurable medium for that space.
In 2004 and 2006, three-dimensional message panels aimed at an international audience were installed in the same area; the 2006 installation was covered by the national press.

2006–2008Adana
Cameras that see a city

The software and hardware that counted and recognised vehicles went on to be used in city-security and traffic-enforcement projects in Türkiye. In 2006 in Adana we built the system that merged advertising panels and the City Security Management System on one infrastructure: ten smart units, five IP cameras per unit; plate, speed, make-model and colour recognition; vehicle and pedestrian counting; violation detection. Y-Vizyon Ltd., the same founding team's company, produced, installed and operated the electronic systems, including the servers, the Command and Control Centre and the fibre links. The work was carried out under a contract signed with the main contractor on 22 December 2006 within the Adana Metropolitan Municipality street-furniture tender, and reached final acceptance on 18 December 2007.
2013–2014Çukurova
Waking the seed
In Çukurova the farmer's problem was drought, imported inputs and falling yields. We looked for a way to release the plant's own potential without genetic or chemical intervention. After the development process, we sowed XSense Seed Stimulation with control groups on farmers' fields under Çukurova University supervision; the company's field records state a total of 756 hectares and 96 application areas for sunflower, maize and soybean applications. The results of the 2014 season were recorded by a third party in the observation report of the Adana Seyhan Chamber of Agriculture.

TodayEducation technologies
MedExem
Today we apply the same R&D discipline in education technologies: MedExem, an AI-supported education and study application that brings the student's notes, course materials and scattered sources together in one context, is in development and validation. Work in health, chemistry and dietary supplements continues; we will share details as validation is completed.
How we work today
A problem in your organisation, an idea or research finding you want to develop, a technology or market partnership, an XSense application, an education partnership around MedExem, or a research discussion in health technologies: whichever it is, we start by understanding the need together. No technical specification is needed to begin; a measurable loss and access to the field are the best starting point for work we can validate together.
